We will take you back to the 3rd century A.D. when historical Salona was one of the leading towns on the Adriatic Sea and when Diocletian built his magnificent palace in the vicinity of Salona. With our licensed guide you will explore the history of ancient Salona and the ruins of its amphitheater, basilica, baptistery and other infrastructural objects. After Salona the tour takes you to the historical Klis Fortress (key entrance to Dalmatia) which is one of the most outstanding fortresses in Croatia. It was first mentioned in the 5th century and the fort earned its fame mainly in Turkish wars. The appearance of the Klis Fortress dates from the last Venetian restoration. From this impressive fort you will enjoy a stunning view at the whole city of Split and the surrounding islands.
