Croatia Dalmatia Split Best Campsites
Croatia is known for its long tradition as a Mediterranean Eden for camping enthusiasts.
Camping tourism in Croatia is very well developed and widespread, and Croatian campsites
are particular because of their ubication on attractive and extremely well-preserved
natural locations, most often very close to the sea.
Grades next to each campsite’s name are estimated from grade 1(lowest) to grade 5 (highest) for the following categories:
-sanitary facilities
-accomodation units
-restaurants, bars and shopping
-sports, entertainment and
– animation
The campsites are located in particularly enchanting locations, under the natural shade of Mediterranean vegetation and directly by the sea .
They have a rich catering and shopping offer and various sport and recreation facilities. Sanitary facilities are fully equipped with many conveniences for adults, children and people with special needs.
Camping Galeb
Recognised as one of Croatia’s best campsites, the three-star Camp Galeb is located 21 kilometres south east of Split in Dalmatia. The camp is situated in Omiš at the mouth of the Cetina river and can accommodate up to 1.400 campers. A range of mobile homes are available to rent, half of which are located along the camp’s 300 metre long beach.
Recreational facilities include an artificial turf football field, tennis courts equipped with lighting for night games, and basketball, beach volleyball and handball courts. For younger campers, a children’s playground is available together with a mini club, swimming school and a programme of evening entertainment. Adults can take advantage of the aerobics, water aerobics and workout classes.
The camp’s beach features its own restaurant, which offers full board, half-board or breakfast only options for the camp’s guests.
A series of excursions are available, organized by the camp’s team, including rafting on the river Cetina.
Camping Rožac
Camp Rožac is located on the island of Čiovo. The island is linked to the mainland by a bridge that leads to the UNESCO town of Trogir, just 2 kilometres away.
Rožac is a three star campsite that can accommodate 550 guests, who can choose to stay in one of the camp’s mobile homes complete with terrace and panoramic views of the surroundings. Situated in a dense pine forest, the camp is surrounded by a 1,000 meters long pebble beach.
Recreational facilities include bicycle and scooter hire and a sports and fun zone offering billiards, table tennis and other games. One of the camp’s specializes is the provision of recreational, entertainment and cultural excursions as well as boat trips.
The nearest grocery store and news stand are 100 meters away, whilst nearby Trogir offer a variety of attractions as well as a diving school.
Camping Vira
Completely renovated and re-opened in 2006, camp Vira is a four star campsite located 4 kilometers north west of the town of Hvar. Over the years it has been awarded a number of quality awards including an ADAC Yellow Board award.
Accommodating 500 guests, the camp’s beach is partially rocky and partially pebbly with flat area for sunbathing. The beach is acknowledged to be the most beautiful beach on the whole of the island of Hvar. In keeping with the camp’s environmentally friendly policies, sanitary facilities use solar energy.
Facilities at the camp include beach volleyball, mini golf, billiards, pedal boats, kayaks, entertainment programs for both children and adults, as well as diving and sailing courses. About 600 meters from camp Vira is a sports center providing basketball, tennis courts and other sporting pastimes that can be used by the camp’s guests.
On-site, the camp offers a large catering facility including a beach bar serving various snacks such as pizza, hot dogs, toasted sandwiches and salads.
A number of excursion programs are organized to the surrounding area and a bus service to Hvar is available.
Camping Belvedere
Campsite Belvedere is located 5 kilometers from Trogir, one of Dalmatia’s and Croatia’s most important tourist destinations, and 1 kilometer from the center of the village of Seget Vranjica.
Camp Vranjica Belvedere is set on terraced grounds on four levels and is covered with Mediterranean foliage and has a very ecologically minded management team. Each campsite plot has a view of the sea and the islands. Accommodation facilities in the camp include mobile homes and apartments, whilst the campsite’s pebble beach is 500 meters long.
Boats are available for hire, as well as bicycles. Tennis courts are also part of the campsite’s sports and recreational offer.
In addition to a playground, for the youngest visitors a special program is organized within a mini club. There are also evening entertainment programs and daily programs for adults. Vranjica has its bakery, while most of the restaurants are in the harbour.
